Here's what I don't get. We've already been told many times in this class to write clearly and say what you really mean to say. So what if the author of "The Eagle" was doing the same thing? We have no idea! He could have wanted us to search for all this "deeper meaning", but he also could have just been writing a little blurb about an eagle after seeing one. I understand why we analyze poems and stories, but I just don't know why we try to find meaning in things that are maybe just supposed to mean what they're saying. How do we know? I guess on most works of writing, we don't, and never will.
